Milliken Flame-Resistance Technology
Arguably the most important technology we can provide to the modern warfighter, the ability to incorporate flame-resistant fabrics into clothing and gear for our military cannot be overstated. Lives are saved and human capital is protected. For armed forces where the value of the individual is often as great as that of the whole, withstanding the brutal forces of fire and heat should be as valuable as withstanding the force of a ballistic attack. Milliken Military has innovated its line of military fabrics in several ways to provide maximum flame-resistance protection to warfighters in the field.
Abrams™
Abrams™ is the flagship flame-resistance technology from Milliken Military. The first and second generation of the patent-pending Abrams™ fabrics form the backbone of Milliken’s FR product line. Featuring a unique blend of materials, this high-performance fabric is a significant alternative to higher-priced FR products and has outperformed much of its competition in test categories such as colorfastness, durability, tensile and tear strength and the intense Pyroman flame test. One clear advantage of Abrams™ technology is the ability to retain durability and function in a printed material. This is valuable as modern military fabrics are increasingly printed, with each branch of service carrying a unique camouflage identity.

Bradley™
Also part of the Abrams™ family are the Bradley™ FR technologies. Bradley™ is designed to serve a more utilitarian function, being applied in gear that sees more everyday use or gear that can be worn at all times, such as that for ground fighters. Bradley™ FR fabrics have been used in FROG (Flame Resistant Operational Gear) by the United States Marine Corps.

Currahee™
Most commonly applied as the heavyweight flame-resistant fabric in Milliken Military’s boot fabrics and linings, the proprietary Currahee™ technology is a staple of the tough line of FR products but is also used in other capacities such as vest covers.

Viper™
Milliken’s FR fabric specially engineered for use by the United States Air Force. Currently in development, applications may include flight suits and Airman Battle Uniform components.
