Arguably the most important technology we can provide to the modern warfighter, the ability to incorporate flame-resistant fabrics into clothing and gear for our military cannot be overstated. Lives are saved and human capital is protected. For armed forces where the value of the individual is often as great as that of the whole, withstanding the brutal forces of fire and heat should be as valuable as withstanding the force of a ballistic attack. Milliken Military has innovated its line of military fabrics in several ways to provide maximum flame-resistance protection to warfighters in the field.

Abrams™

Abrams is the flagship flame resistant technology from Milliken Military, forming the backbone of Milliken’s FR product line. Featuring a unique blend of materials, this high-performance fabric is engineered for protection and durability. Abrams meets iCVC, FRACU and ABE military specifications for 4 second ASTM F 1930 instrumented manikin testing. Fiber, fabric and finishing are 100% USA made Berry compliant.

This proprietary, technologically advanced fabric was developed with years of research and technical expertise. With this technology, Milliken & Company has been able to produce a fabric with a long lifecycle. Standardized tests indicate that Abrams abrasion and tear resistance results are more than two times stronger than some competitive fabrics in the market. In terms of performance, latest testing shows that Abrams resists the type of wear and tear that uniforms see in everyday battle arenas, such as seam splitting and worn knees and elbows. Abrams has the strength to hold up in the rocky mountainous terrain of Afghanistan and/or the rigors of urban theatre in Iraq. Abrams also has improved color fastness so that a uniform made of Abrams fabric maintains excellent nIR performance, and looks, feels and performs like it did when first worn.
